## A checklist for the decision in front of you

Answer eight planning questions about the reason for the project, available reports, building type, access, renovation , occupancy, finish expectations and any signs of immediate danger. The result identifies records to gather and coordination questions to discuss. It does not diagnose wiring or certify safety. ## Gather information without investigating wiring

Use reports and photographs you already have. Additional photographs should be taken only from normal safe access. Do not remove covers, move insulation , pull conductors or test a circuit to answer a checklist question. An unanswered question can be recorded as something for the assessment.

## Different deadlines need different records

An insurer’s request , a purchase negotiation and a planned insulation job can each change the order of decisions. Share the exact wording with the contractor. A completion record should describe the actual scope, and a third party decides whether that record satisfies its requirement. Keep the scope clear.
